So what better way to gain more critical acclaim than a Broadway musical?

Yep, it’s rumoured that Anne is following in the footsteps of the likes of Katie Holmes, and has auditioned for a part in Promises, Promises – a comedy musical based on the film The Apartment by Billy Wilder.

According to , the show, which ran on Broadway from 1968 to 1972, has never had a revival, and Will & Grace star Sean Hayes is also said to be lined up for a role.

Meanwhile, Anne wowed the crowds this week at the London Film Festival screening of her new movie, Rachel Getting Married, in a stunning blue and amethyst Zac Posen column gown, where she admitted that she's still single, but has her eye on a 'sexy' man in LA.

The Devil Wears Prada star, and former Marie Claire cover girl, apparently ended her four-year relationship with the 29-year-old businessman at the weekend.

The news comes following months of scandal surrounding Follieri whose charity, Follieri Foundation - which in the past has funded vaccination programmes in the developing world - is currently being investigated by the New York State Attorney General's Office.

Last year, Follieri also turned himself into the police after a business associate accused him of writing a cheque for $215,000 which bounced. All charges were dropped when he settled the amount outstanding, but the couple were said to have split temporarily at the time.

'It's heartbreaking for her to dump him, and she's devastated that it's come to this, but she really didn't have a choice. His scandals were hurting her reputation,' a source tells the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, on-set sources from Bride Wars, Anne's most recent film, claim the pair were often seen arguing when he visited. 'They fought so much while Anne was making the movie, she genuinely started to wonder if the relationship was worth all the pain,' one revealed.

'Raffaello would only ever visit her on sets for short periods of time.

'He was very caught up in his social life and making connections in New York, and stories would get back to Anne about his late nights and carousing, usually with models in the immediate vicinity.'

Hollywood is now hoping Anne will make the move to LA having insisted in the past she would always stay on the east coast to be near to her boyfriend.

'Even though she loves being near her family, a move to Los Angeles could mean better roles, more money, and a better pool of potential boyfriends.'? is set to play her idol Judy Garland on stage and screen in an adaptation of a successful biography about the musical star.

Anne will star in film and musical adaptations of Gerald Clarke’s biography Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.

The Devil Wears Prada star revealed her singing and dancing talents at the opening show for this year’s Oscars.

Clarke’s biography, released in 2000, was so successful that movie mogul Harvey Weinstein bought the rights to turn the book into a film and stage show.

Judy Garland’s most famous role is that of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Although successful on screen, she suffered from several nervous breakdowns, failed marriages and had problems with drinking and drugs.

The tragic star, mother of singer Liza Minelli, died in 1969 at 47 from an accidental drug overdose.? is lined up to star in the Disney remake of Alice in Wonderland.

The Devil Wears Prada star, who has just finished filming Bride Wars with Kate Hudson, is set to play the role of the White Queen.

Anne will join a host of other A-list stars on set, including director Tim Burton’s wife, who’s set to play the Red Queen, Johnny Depp (the Mad Hatter), and rising star Mia Wasikowska, who’s been cast as Alice.

We've seen Hathaway dazzle on the red carpet in several times before, most notably when she walked arm-in-arm with the designer at the 2011 Oscars, wearing a striking red floral-appliqued couture creation from his A/W 2002 collection.

The new movie, which sees Hathaway play a model emerge from rehab to attend her older sister's wedding, whipped up an Oscar buzz for her performance at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals.

Anne described the role as an opportunity of a lifetime, but played down rumours of awards, saying: 'It's really cool, but it's a little premature to get excited about it.'She added: 'I actually did something that I'm proud of, where all of the intentions I had for the character made it to the screen.'For me, it's a recognition of my dreams, this role.'I'm really excited that with this movie I feel like I've earned that title. I've certainly been striving to earn it since Princess Diaries.'

Anne hit the headlines when, just weeks after they split, her ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, was arrested and pleaded guilty to fraud.

But the star has bounced back and told the that she has her eye on another man. She revealed: 'This guy I know in LA is kind of really doing it for me right now... I'm totally single right now, but I happened to meet a sexy guy the other day.'
